Indoor Air Is Up To 100x More Toxic Than Outdoor Air

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

The World Health Organization lists air pollution as the single biggest environmental threat to public health in 2019. Indoor air quality can be as much as 100x worse for people than outdoor air which is of particular concern because we spend 90-95% of our time indoors and because of energy savings initiatives have effectively sealed contaminants in. If you have read our previous blog posts, you will see a common theme simply focusing on eliminating/mitigating stress-causing factors, while implementing habits that give your body energy (create more of an anti-stress within the body's physiology). The air indoors is simply an environmental stress that we were unaware of for many years. Just like with electromagnetic frequencies (EMFs) we can’t really see it, touch, or hear it, so we tend not to take it seriously. We think it should be a top priority for anyone wanting to improve their health or help reduce stress-causing factors in his/her life.

There are so many toxins that can be found indoors including; Mold, Fungi, Formaldehyde, Polio, MRSA, Bacteria, Airborne Particulates, MERS-CoV (coronavirus), Viruses, Smoke, Chemical VOCs, VRE, Odors, E. Coli, H1N1, S. Typhimurium (salmonella), Aeroallergens, Hydrogen Sulfide, and Yeasts. Our intention is not to bring fear to our audience, but give you the education, awareness, and solutions to begin optimizing the quality of your life.

Many of these chemicals and toxins come from flame retardants, paints, other solvents, wood preservatives, aerosol sprays, disinfectants, hobby supplies, dry-cleaned clothing, pesticide, automotive production/fumes, detergents, etc. An ideal first step to avoid continuing putting gas on the fire, would be eliminating many of these household products as best as you can. Throw out the plug-in glade scents, Lysol sprays, and anything with a chemical scent to it. If there is a major leak or spill, clean it up immediately so that mold/fungus do not begin to form.

1. Eye, stuffy nose, and throat irritation

2. Headaches, loss of coordination and nausea

3. Liver damage, kidney, and nervous system disorders

4. Lung cancer, and other cancers in humans.

5. Allergic skin reaction (acne, eczema, psoriasis)

6. Chronic Fatigue, dizziness

7. Weakened Immune System

Now just because you may not be experiencing any of these symptoms, does not mean they could be currently forming. As Stress Specialists, we want to provide as many factors that could be holding you back from unlocking your body’s potential.

SOLUTIONS 1. Increase airflow by opening windows/doors when possible to allow for outdoor air in.

2. Do not store opened containers of unused paints and similar materials around your environment.

3. Bring nature indoors. Keep house plants throughout your environment, especially where you sleep.

4. Get outside more!

5. Use activated charcoal packs around the house/car.

6. Invest in a high-quality HypoAllergenic Air Filter

We have both invested a lot of money in overpriced air filtration systems that did nowhere near to the effect that Hypoallergenic air filters do. Most HEPAs and air filters do not kill viruses/bacteria and cannot get too small particulates (PM2.5). Hypo air filters actively purify the air AND surfaces throughout a room. It does not have to suck air up through a filter to have an effect. A recent study found that their technology killed 99.998% of the MERS virus on a surface in just 4 hours. This means if a virus lands on a surface like a door handle, and then your turn on the unit, the technology is able to sanitize that surface, providing protection even as new contaminating events occur.

Coronavirus is currently trending and they have a current study showing high kill rates of MERS Coronavirus on a surface, as well as airborne H1N1. Most air purifiers have zero germicidal effects, and those that do would only claim kill rates inside the chamber/filters, not on surfaces.

It uses three technologies experimented by Einstein and NASA, and safely addressed unwanted contaminants such as allergens, mold, mycotoxins, bacteria, viruses, VOCs and odors. We have directly spoken with the engineer (David Milburn) of HypoAir and fully support products where companies also focus on health and not just on revenue. Check out a podcast David was interviewed on if you care to learn more in detail about their products.
